❝You've reached Ned and Digby [barking]. We're not available at the moment, please leave your name and a brief message and one of us will get back to you shortly. Probably me.❞
Uh, hi. I'm Jim Halpert and, uh, I heard you're opening a pie shop? I'm kinda looking for a job and I didn't know if you had any openings or not being a new business?
[Jim wonders briefly if Ned hung up, but oop there he is again.]
Almost four weeks. I know it's a big place, but I'm getting used to it and back home I was considered for a corporate position in New York that would oversee all of the New England branches.
[Oh wait super strength!] And I can help unload supplies and do the back-breaking work, not that there's, uh, really much back-breaking work in making pies. Well, I mean, not the usual kind. Not that pie-making is unusual, I just, uh, yeah. [Foot goes in mouth now.] So I can do that too.
Corporate? [He wondered if Jim didn't like his job and maybe that was why he wanted a change.] So you have no experience in -- pie?
We do have a lot of furniture to carry... [Shahrazad had super strength too, but she could only work at night until Ned sufficiently blocked out the windows.]
Hello, Ned and Digby. This is Zatanna -- Zatanna Zatara. [It started off teasing, but then a little more serious. She isn't poking fun, but... as if there's someone else out there who shares her name!]
I was ported out, as you may very well be aware. I ran into some trouble when I threw a little fit and without a second thought, tried to teleport home... needless to say, I was and am still stranded. I didn't find my comm until now and I'm afraid I'm no good with phone numbers or I would have given you a ring before now. [She tried looking up his number, too. That lead to nowhere.]
I'm going to make a post to the network and see if anyone will pick me up.
[A pregnant pause, hesitant.] Thank you for caring about me, Ned.
Hello again, Ned. I'm sorry I wasn't around to lend a hand with your detective work. I hope it wasn't too scary; I've never been in that sort of situation, myself. Either way, I know that you're strong enough to handle it. You'll tell me all about it when I get back, right? Just be careful until then, especially if Cobblepot was implicated in any way. Those Gotham guys are not to be trifled with, you know?
Hello again, Ned -- and Digby, I certainly can't forget Digby. [She says it like she expects the dog to be listening in on the messages beside Ned... come to think of it? He very well may be!]
Thank you for all of the messages. It makes a gal feel appreciated, you know? Anyway, I was ported out, right? Not for too long. Just long enough to get some of my affairs in order and work things out with my family and... ah. Well, I was seeing a guy sort-of-kind-of back home, you know? It was nice seeing him. I realize that we aren't meant for long-term, but he was my rock for some time after I lost a few people who were really important to me. [She still sounds upbeat about it all, almost chipper. Sort of more like the person he first met in the City. She sounds renewed, relaxed, and comfortable. She's in her element. Maybe this is all she's needed this whole time?] I'll tell you about it sometime. Maybe over a whole pot of that soup? I could go for it right about now.
I can't wait to see you two again. Don't go disappearing on me.

Oh, it was his phone. Ned never would get used to having one.
He fumbles it, just barely saving it from a fate worse than death and picks up, a bit out of breath.] Hello?
voice;
[The voice of a slightly awkward teen could be heard.]
This is Ned, right? Owner of the Pie Hole?
[more like he's pretty awkward about this.]

[oh, right.]
Minako told me that you might be looking for cooks right now.
