Gas, I think. [a look over his shoulder to confirm, then nods]

[Jim flips one page of the manual to the next page. Gas installation. Okay, awesome, at least they're looking at the right thing now. He rolls up his sleeves and pulls off his tie to set on the counter as he glances around.]

So where's the gas line?

[Mimicking Jim, he rolls up his sleeves and steps up behind him, pointing it out.] There.

[How adorable. Jim carefully reaches around to attach the gas line to the stove and leans back, making sure nothing is blowing up yet.]

Uh okay, so that's, uh, it looks okay. So next we, uh, need to plug it in I think?

[He nods, closing one eye as he gingerly plugs in the oven. Then opens them when he realizes he still hasn't been blown up.]

Anything else before I start... programming this. [or trying to, at least]

[Jim glances at the oven once or twice as he carefully pushes it the couple inches into its correct spot before stepping back.]

I think we're a go for the programming... thing. [Nothing's blown up. They can do this, right?]

Right. [He gestures to the other two ovens.] Do you want to set those up while I do this?

[It was handy having strong people work for him o__o All he had back home was Olive and she was 5' nothing and weighed less than one of Ned's shoes.]

Yeah, sure. I'm on it. [With a faux salute, Jim moves over toward the other ovens and begins setting them up slowly, making sure to not get ahead of himself with something so dangerous. One of the ovens he has to lift and move over, so he carefully reaches down to the base. Much to his surprise, the thing easily lifts in his arms.]

Woah.

[Ned kind of laughs, looking over from where he's kneeling]

You still don't know your own strength, do you?

[Jim carefully sets the oven down the foot or so over that it needs to be before he replies.]

Yeah, I, uh, I'm still really not used to it.

It must be a new ability then. [Which made Ned sound like an expert and he blanched instantly, turning back to his task.]

[Jim wipes off his hands and puts them in his pockets for a moment as he looks over the ovens, not seeing Ned's expression until he glances over. He furrows his eyebrows and grimaces, not quite sure what happened.]

Uh, yeah. I didn't really have any superpowers until I got here.

How are you adjusting? [he tries for a smile, glancing over, and knowing he didn't quite make it]

[Jim scratches the back of his head for a couple moments.]

Well, Pam and I don't really like it 'cause I have to be super careful around her. Just makes the whole being married thing difficult.

Oh. [he frowns instantly] I'm sorry. But I'm sure, you'll get used to it over time.

Nah, it's not a big deal. We'll work through it. [He shrugs and offers a half-smile before tucking his hands back into his pockets.] But, I mean, do you know why we even have these powers? I, uh, don't really come from a place that has a whole bunch of superheroes running around.

No, me either. [He tilts his head.] None, in fact.

[Unless he counted himself, but that wasn't something he was getting into. Finishing his task, he rose from the floor and dusted himself off, only to move to the next oven, laying the instructions out in front of it]

I believe it's the City's way of asking us for help. Though, with all of these actual superheroes in residence, it makes a person wonder.

Help for what? Setting up ovens? Wrestling bears? [He really hasn't been cued into the whole kidnapping/government conspiracy and that's pretty okay with him. Living in his little world with his wife and small group of budding friends is uncomfortable enough. Every day has its own set of challenges and rewards. And, really that's all he can ask for.]

I don't get it, man. Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't make any sense.

I suppose we're just expected to drop everything and come live here. The powers are more of a suggestion, a means to -- become a hero. [Ned took a breath, trying to remain calm but this was really hitting a little close to home.

Standing back from the ovens after a long pause, he stands and puts his hands on his hips.] There.

[Jason offers a grimace that could resemble a smile in some small way.]

Hero? I don't know, man. I'm not really the, uh, superhero guy. I don't think I'd look good in spandex.

Does anyone? [He sighs, tossing the towel onto the counter and wandering back onto the restaurant floor.]

[Jim shrugs and pockets his hands again.]

Well, I think some people are better at it than others. Like, you know, they got trained or something.

By Batman, or Superman. [he nods. Perhaps Jim would understand his massive dorkiness :c]

Yeah, like Batman or Superman. Or Bear Man. [He jokes, as he's pretty sure Dwight's favorite character would be Bear Man. Some how.

Well, except for the fact that Jim is Bear Man. If setting up ovens counts as a superhero activity.]

[Ned chuckles] Or him. [he just generally seems more cheerful from this point on ok]
